Automation Support Technician
Job Description
Supports production by keeping automated and mechanical equipment running efficiently. Specific job functions include the following:
- Understand and troubleshoots complex servo driven systems and PLC controlled machines with the use of a digital multi-meter, machine documentation, mechanical drawings, electrical and pneumatic schematics.
- Maintain and implement improvements in existing automation equipment.
- Assists in production start-ups and changeovers as related to automation equipment. This may include but is not limited to: changeover from one part to another, moving automation from one location to another, adjusting settings, and making adjustments to mechanical components.
- Responsible for learning how to start automation, adjust settings, and make small programming changes on various types of robots and other equipment.
- Responsible for replacing or repairing mechanical and electrical components.
- Assists engineering and various departments with implementation and installation of new jobs.
- Experience with industrial vision cameras and vision inspection software a plus
- PLC programming knowledge a plus
- Able to learn new software and robot programming languages, for troubleshooting and process improvements
- Involved with review and suggestions during new equipment procurement and implementation

- Your direct supervisor will be Cost Improvement Engineer.

Minimum Requirements For Employment
- Demonstrate the ability, commitment, and character to emulate the department’s mission, philosophies and policies, and those of Polymer Conversions.
- Be trained in and have a thorough knowledge of and commitment to the elements of ISO-9001/13485 as they pertain to Polymer Conversions’ systems.
- Requires a technical background with preferably 5 years of manufacturing-related experience.
- Have a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with department teammates.
- Experience or willing to learn lean manufacturing principles or 6- sigma concepts.
- Possess knowledge of SPC as it applies to manufacturing.
- Have the ability to follow verbal or written instruction.
- Pass a company physical.
- Be willing to undergo random drug testing.
- Demonstrate the ability to administer and maintain Polymer Conversion’s Quality System.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Possess a 2-year college or technical degree, or equivalent experience acceptable to the leadership team.
